SPARTA + AMAZON = SPARTAZON

The name SPARTAZON because it forms a powerful feminine link between the beautiful Sparta Goddess who showed perpetual strength in protecting the home front  and the fierce, physical abilities of the mysterious Amazon warriors of the earth.  The name also brought with it an inherent survivor quality:  it is said the Amazon female warrior amputated one of her breasts to allow for the fitting of her armor and to become a master archer.  Together my Daughter, Cherokee and I have dedicated this name to the loving memory of my sister Carmela, an ethereal spiritual warrior.  It is an authentic celebration of life for all breast cancer survivors and the preservation of the human sexual dignity of our sisters around the world!

LIFE PERFORMANCE

I am a passionately active mother of two natural athletes, the wife of a world class athlete.  And like my family, my life has been inalterably shaped by the demand of performance—not in the game of sport, but in the game of life.  The arena where practice almost makes perfect and personal growth and achievement are the trophies.  My own life has transformed me from a multi-tasker and overachiever, to the joy of my profession.  Yet as I look back, I can hardly believe it has happened.  When I was in my 20’s, 30’s, none of my friends—least of all me—thought I would be challenged by anything physically.  I grew up a tom girl, playing outdoors with the boys, racing them and dominating dodge ball.  My middle and high school years were filled with the accolades of all star teams, varsity letters and track and field championships.  I went on to be a 4-year college volleyball scholarship recipient.  In college I was introduced to the world of body building, inspired by the likes of the beautifully sculpted bodies became a competitive body builder.  When I entered motherhood, I assumed that my body, mind and spirit would carry the same genetic strength as played out game after game.  So, I continued in my own running steps, pushing, not pacing; doing, not feeling; working, not playing.  I could do it all—I was superwoman!  I couldn’t do it—I was without my super powers.  Routines practiced daily were impossible.  Muscles began to atrophy, carrying groceries from my car was impossibility, and nervousness of hands, holding a pen required deliberate dexterity, Low to no Energy, left me leaving the house only as a necessity.  My friends, family, and doctor didn’t understand what was wrong with me.  They all labeled me as stressed.

Found in a naturopath was the alternative that lead to improved health and fitness.  Beginning with nutrition and the importance of the right balance of aerobic conditioning, strength training and rest for improved health and fitness,  I began to take myself step by step through the process of changing habits, balancing my workouts, and feeding my soul .  As witness to my own unhealthy training, I was determined as a professional fitness trainer to help women find the path to total wellness.

Our daily lives demand a lot of our body, mind, emotions and spirit.  We have a shared desire to maintain an optimal level of fitness while being challenged by a schedule that usually does not allow for a regular exercise routine.  The key to success is to have a space and a place in time for selfless dedication to getting our bodies back, feeling carefree, building strength and energizing our spirits.  Welcome to  SPARTAZON—Outdoor Training for Women!
